Is there a God?    Does God exist?     Your answer to the question, Does God Exist?
depends upon what you mean by the word "God."    Questioning the Existence of God is like asking,
Do you exist?       What are you?       Where did you come from?       Why are you here?        Where are you going?

Over the centuries, the tools and techniques for just about everything have changed dramatically.   Possibilities and ways of examining things exist today that would amaze or ancestors.  The areas of major change include:

How we heal  the physical body,

Tools for understanding how everything is the physical universe functions,

The theories about what a  human being actually is.

The theories about what Creator/God might be and how He/She/It functions.

So, in this expanded context,  let's do a little "Possibility Thinking"

    What Is God

.

Is there a God?   Before you can offer any meaningful answers to these  questions, or have a reasonably meaningful discussion about them, you need to define what you mean when you say, "God."

Traditional religions perceive God as a superhuman being who lives in a place above the clouds called heaven.   According to this belief, God can magically alter the laws of the universe at His whim and will do so for those who follow His orders and worship Him correctly.

The traditional religions teach their followers that the only alternative to a God in the sky is atheism (no God at all).    This completely ignores the third and most realistic theory about God -- God as the sum-total of all that is.

Please see the references in the section below:  What Is a Human Being?

.

.

.

    What Is a Human Being

.

Atheism is the belief that  1) There is no such thing as the God described by Christianity.  2)  A human is his or her physical body which has magically acquired consciousness.   3)   This one life is all there is.  4)  At death, the human ceases to exist.  5)  The reincarnation alternative is given zero consideration.   There is no evidence to support this belief.   This belief can only be accepted by a Leap of Faith. '

Reincarnation is the belief that 1)  Physical matter is only a very small part of reality.   2)  Life does not begin at conception, or at birth, or anywhere else,  and life does not end at death.   3)   Humans are not physical bodies.   4)   Humans are eternal, non-physical, divine beings who always were and always will be.   5)    Each and every human is an eternal being temporarily inhabiting a physical body.    There is considerable circumstantial evidence to support this belief.   The latest scientific evidence supports this belief.   See the Videos:      "What the Bleep Do We Know"  and  "Down the Rabbit Hole"   at http://www.whatthebleep.com/community/ '

In all of human history, there never has been and probably never will be another distinction as important as:  "Are you inside or outside of God?"  This belief, no matter which perspective one believes, is the underlying context which dominates and controls vast amounts of human behavior.   We have an entire website devoted to this issue.    http://www.Truth-Seeker-Truth.info '

  .

.

.

.

    Do Actions Have Consequences?

.

.

YES, they definitely do!   No human being can escape the Laws of the Universe.   You've probably heard about the law of cause and effect.   "Every cause has an effect.  Every effect has a cause."    "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."

It's possible to use one law to overcome another law, but the laws themselves are immutable.   For example, the laws of aerodynamics are used in the airplane industry to temporarily counterbalance the laws of gravity.   When an airplane is in flight, it is still at the effect of gravity.   If anything interferes with the laws of aerodynamics, the plane immediately falls back to the Earth's surface.

Like the physical law of gravity, the laws on the invisible side of reality are also immutable.   The wise study, understand and intentionally apply the Three Universal Laws, '   the Seven Principles of Hermes, '    and the variations of these laws, such as:

"What goes around comes around."

"As you sew, so shall you reap. "

"Whatever you do onto others, you also do onto yourself."

You can sometimes delay the consequences of these laws, but you cannot change them.   You can ignore them, but you do so at your own peril.   Let the wise beware!    Another thing that humans tend to ignore is that  most of reality is Invisible. `

.

.

.

.

    The Invisible Side of Reality

.

.

Life is actually lived on the invisible side of reality.   For example, you can't see love, joy, peace, or freedom, but would any of you declare that they are not real.  You can't see gravity or electricity either, but when someone defies or ignores either of  these laws, they usually do it only once.   The consequences are so immediate and so devastating that, if they are still alive, they rarely  ignore the laws a second time.

The Size of Life:  To view life as plants and animals is to miss the vast majority of what life is.   Life is bio-chemical, bio-electrical in nature and  occurs at the level of atoms, molecules, and cells -- at a level so small that it's outside the everyday consciousness of most people.

The Flat Earth:  To view only the Earth from ground level with the naked eye and think we know something about the Earth is so ridiculous as to be indescribable.   ( "The Earth is flat, as any fool can plainly see.")

I Know Nothing:  What we don't know exceeds what we do know by such a huge amount that Albert Einstein is quoted as having acknowledged this with the words:  "I now realize that I know nothing."

An Infinite Vastness:  The universe is so vast that as Carl Sagan so eloquently stated:   "There are more stars in the known universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on the entire Earth."

Ninety five percent of the physical universe is  invisible:   Astronomers, in attempting to find out at what speed the universe is expanding and the rate at which that expansion is slowing down have come to the conclusion that Einstein’s theory of the Cosmological Constant (which he, himself, later renounced as false) appears to be correct, after all.   The latest findings indicate that of all the matter and energy that make up the universe only about five percent is perceivable to human senses or to present-day, scientific instruments.

So how do they know the other ninety-five percent is there?   They know by the gravitational effect it has on that five-percent-portion we call physical matter.   About one third of all the material that makes up the known universe appears to be invisible matter (called "dark matter,") and about two thirds of the known universe appears to consist of an invisible energy (called "dark energy").   Unlike physical matter, dark matter neither emits or reflects light, and, unlike physical matter which gathers together in clumps, this invisible energy, is present everywhere.

What appears to humans as empty space is actually, to use one astronomer's words, "a seething stew of energy and matter."   This fits Einstein’s original theory of the Cosmological Constant.

If these two perspectives continue to be confirmed by additional studies, these findings will have  profound effects upon our understanding of the nature of reality.  For starters, just ask two simple questions: first, if physical matter is made up only of energy, what are we?   And second, what is in that invisible ninety-five percent of what we call the universe?

* Reference:  Dark Energy-1°

* Reference:  Dark Energy-2°

God:  The concept we call "God" is also invisible, and, yet,  our beliefs about whatever it is we call "God" ' dictate our lives.

Internal:  Another factor to consider is that everything we do in the external world is actually done to create an inner satisfaction.  So the next time you get upset about something out there in the world, remember this:
There are no victims, only unconscious creators.
Happiness is an inside job.
Everything is mental; the Universe is a mental creation of the All.

What If Some of Your Beliefs Are Wrong

.

.

Have You Ever Been Wrong?

No matter what topic we focus on, it’s impossible to know all there is to know about it.   We could be missing a vital piece of information without even knowing that that piece is missing.   It's also possible that you and I could be wrong about something right now.   It's possible that something we think of as definitely true is actually false, or vice versa.

And, what's the probability of our being wrong about something, right now?   Whose to say?  But if you look at history, you'll find that, collectively, humans have an incredibly long track record of being wrong about almost everything.

This concept is illustrated quite well by Sufi story about three blind men examining an elephant.

Three Blind Men

You are invited to look at life,  religion, and our physical Earth from the perspective that every person has a portion of the truth, but no one has the complete truth.  Humans get into trouble they claim their piece of the truth is the complete and only truth.

They become like the three blind men in the Sufi story about examining an elephant.  One blind man, while touching the elephant's side, declared that an elephant was like a wall.   The second touching its leg, declared an elephant was like a tree, and the third blind man, while holding onto its tail declared an elephant was like a snake.

All three were correct, and, at the same time, all three had very distorted perspectives of an elephant.  Please note that the significance here is not in what each blind man  said about the elephant.  The significance is in what they didn't say.   They didn't say because they couldn't say.   They couldn't say because they didn't know.   And they didn't know that they didn't know.   If you continued this elephant analogy, you could probably come up with several dozen more equally limiting ways to describe an elephant.  When you substitute God for the elephant in this analogy, the possibilities become infinite.  This leads us to an obvious conclusion:

Trying to stick God into a single religious belief system
is like trying to fit the universe into a shoe box.

Ask and answer these three questions:   "Have you ever been wrong?   While you were being wrong, did you know you were wrong?   Is it possible that you are wrong about something right now?"

Readers are directed to the section titled:    The Three Basic Religious Theories About Life.°  If you believe that your religion is the one and only true religion answer this question:  "How do you know that you are right?"

     The Bottom Line

.

.

If you believe your religion tells you all there is to know :
**  about what a human being is
** about the origin of humans
**  about the nature of the source of the universe and/or
**  about how the
universe functions,
your beliefs are, at best  incredibly naive and foolish, and at worst,
dangerous, deadly, and potentially catastrophic for all humanity.
